Data & Cloud Engineer

Green Praxis offers environmental analytics solutions to companies with large land holdings to help them manage their assets in a sustainable way while remaining economically profitable. When assessing siting for a new infrastructure project such as a solar farm we assess the existing habitat richness and species biodiversity. For asset managers with large portfolios we provide scoring across a range of environment measures to identify progress over time and where improvements can be made. The company consists of environmental scientists complemented by a technology team that helps them perform analysis at scale and uncover insights.


We are looking for a Data & Cloud Engineer to support these efforts who enjoys working across multiple technical domains. In this role you will perform a variety of tasks:

  • Develop data management code in python for ingest, cleaning, processing and visualization of a large number of sources related to environmental measurement ranging from satellite data to legal texts

  • Work with our airflow data orchestration both to integrate these data flows and to optimize the airflow infrastructure for greater efficiency and reliability

  • Support the management and evolution of our back end AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure

  • Manage the execution of client projects including project configuration, data pipeline operation & testing.


Our platform consists of cloud infrastructure, our Airflow data pipelines, machine learning models leveraging both CNNs and LLMs, a Node API and a React front end application. This collection of services helps our customers and operational teams to fully understand the characteristics of a target site, and calculate the impact of a range of plans on key environmental variables.


What we are looking for in you:

  • Masters degree with concentration in computer science

  • 2+ years experience as a software engineer in a commercial environment or demonstration of strong individual initiative

  • Skilled in Python and data pipelines

  • Experience with database, container management and cloud administration

  • Willingness to work across a diverse range of technologies and tasks

  • Continuous learning approach, always ready to introduce new ideas and technologies

  • Ability to work with substantial autonomy

  • Good communicator and collaborator

  • An ability to work in both French & English
